Happy Birthday Mike!

Today is Mike’s birthday. He is 29 years old! His mom is in town right now helping out with Noah, and so we’re going to have a little party tonight. His choice was tacos and pie instead of cake. He’s such a great husband and a loving father to our kids. Have a great day Mike! We love you!

One month birthday not so sweet

Noah turned one month yesterday. I can’t believe it has gone by so fast! When he woke up Sunday morning though, we noticed he developed a cough, which isn’t very common with a one month old infant. This morning I felt like I should take him to see his pediatrician, and his RSV results came out positive. I feel so bad for our little guy. He’s having such a hard time breathing because of all the junk in his throat and lungs. Kimi caught a nasty cold last week and I guess it was inevitable that she’d pass it to her brother. I’ve been a little frustrated because I have tried so hard to keep my kids healthy and by being a hermit this winter since he’s been born.  We would love your prayers. Hopefully he fights it and gets better quickly.

More pictures!

Here’s a few more pictures of Noah with the rest of the family. We think we might have a friend take some pictures of all of us together and send Happy New Year’s cards since we definitely didn’t get around to Christmas cards this year. In some of the pictures Noah looks fairly yellow–he is getting better though. We’ll see what the doc has to say when we go see him this week. Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

My labor experience

I decided to fill those of you who are interested in hearing about how my labor went last Thursday (13th–also my birthday). I first went into my Dr. on the 10th (Monday before), and he stripped my membranes. The next two days I was showing signs that labor was coming soon, but nonetheless, nothing happened. I walked for so long Monday and Tuesday to speed things up, but he obviously wasn’t ready.

I was scheduled for induction Thursday morning, which was what happened. We got to the hospital around 6am and by 7am I was admitted and they put me on pit. For two hours it was so slow going. I was even playing on our DS for a little bit, because my contractions were like period cramps. I was a little discouraged because it seemed as if I would be in labor all day long. So after Mike took a long nap, he went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Right after he left, my Dr. came in and broke my water (which was such a weird sensation–it didn’t break until after I had the epidural with Kimi). After that, things started to move a lot faster. At 11:15 I was definitely ready for my epidural, of which the anesthesiologist did a fantastic job. I could still move my legs, but only felt the pressure. However, I was only to about a 4. But in one hour I moved from a 4 to a 10. My doctor then came in and I pushed for about 10 minutes and he was out! I did have to have a small episiotomy (sp?) though. He was born at 1:07 p.m.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better labor. My epidural was perfect, my episiotomy hasn’t hurt at all, I haven’t been on pain killers much past the first couple of days–I feel great. It is like night and day difference from our first and second kid. The hardest part has been dealing with my sweet newborn son and my crazy stubborn two year old daughter.

He is doing better with his jaundice, by the way. It dropped a couple of points today, so we won’t have to bring him back to the hospital–yay!!! Here’s some pictures of Noah this past week. Two of them were right after his bath. Don’t you love his hair?

Uh Oh’s Yellow Baby Might Need the Lights

We got the yellow-skin test thingy back and Noah’s jaundice levels are at 16ish.  If they don’t improve by tomorrow, we are probably going to have to take him in and put him under the lights at the hospital.  He also lost a pound in the last couple days…. so the Dr. said he needs to be woken up every three hours and fed.  So everyone hope and pray for the best.  Thanks!  I will post some more pictures a little later.

Kimi has been crazy as ever.  She seems to bounce on the walls… errr better said, she seems to climb the walls.  I don’t know where she gets her stubbornness, but man, she can sure be crazy.  We will be looking forward to Grandma Paula’s visit after Christmas–I hope Carly can hold out that long.   Anyways, Kimi says thanks to Grandpa Ozaki for her Elmo stuffed animal (we bought it today at Toys R Us).  Tonight she tucked Elmo into bed and sang him a song before she went to bed.

Small update

Well, we finally picked a middle name for Noah.  In case you didn’t know, we were having a hard time picking a name.  We both decided on Noah James Andelin.  Kimi absolutely loves and adores her new little brother.  She keeps touching his face and naming the individual parts on his face.  It is a little crazy dealing with a newborn plus Kimi’s extreme energy and stubborn nature, but we are managing.  I will try to upload some pictures soon, right now I have to go save Carly from Kimi.

Baby Noah is here!

Hey everyone! The baby came finally.  He was born on Carly’s birthday (yesterday) at about 1:00pm after being induced.  We are naming him Noah.  Noah weighed in at 8 lbs 2 oz and is 19.5″ in length.  Here are a few quick pictures I uploaded before I had to head back to the hospital. Today Noah got his wiener whacked–so he probably won’t be the happiest camper. Both Noah and Carly are doing great so far.
